Overview

Our estate Margarita Vineyard is blessed with five distinct soil zones—ancient sea bed, sedimentary, shale, volcanic and granitic—and an extended growing season orchestrated by the nearby Pacific Ocean.

As the only vineyard in its vicinity, Margarita Vineyard stands alone in benefitting from these extraordinary growing conditions, producing fruit with inherent balance, natural complexity and rich varietal flavors.

Margarita Vineyard resides in the historic Santa Margarita Ranch, which was first planted to vines by Franciscan missionaries in 1780. The name Ancient Peaks is a tribute to the vineyard’s geologic heritage, which is most evident in the towering mountains that preside over the vines. The ancient tectonic forces behind these peaks gave rise to the complex soils and marine-cooled terrain that distinguish our wines.
