Cabernet Sauvignon excels at our estate Margarita Vineyard, where it achieves both ripeness and balance amid one of the coolest, longest growing seasons in the Paso Robles region. Here, our Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted to a range of soil types, bringing added natural complexity to the wine.
Our estate Margarita Vineyard has become renowned for producing one of Paso Robles’ most acclaimed Zinfandels. Here, amid one of the region’s coolest growing environments, the Zinfandel grape achieves a rare balance of robust flavors and elegant structure. Zinfandel has been a cornerstone variety of Paso Robles for more than 100 years, and we are proud to feature it in our small family of wines.
Malbec excels at our estate Margarita Vineyard, where it benefits from one of the coolest growing environments in the Paso Robles region. To craft this limited-edition Malbec, we chose a selection of exemplary barrels from the 2011 vintage to offer a rare showcase for the variety. The 2011 Malbec belongs to our White Label series, which signifies small lots of the highest quality expressed through alternative varietals and unconventional blends.
The 2012 Petite Sirah comes from our Wittstrom Vineyard in the rolling foothills northwest of the city of Paso Robles. Wittstrom Vineyard enjoys optimal growing conditions for mazimizing Petite Sirah's natural peppery character and intense black fruit flavors. The 2012 Petite Sirah belongs to our limited-edition white label series, which signifies small lots of the highest quality expressed through alternative varietals and unconventional blends.
Each year, we craft the limited-edition Oyster Ridge cuvee to exemplify our finest winemaking efforts. The name Oyster Ridge honors an outcropping that always astonishes visitors to our estate Margarita Vineyard. Here, large white oyster fossils are literally spilling out of the ground, fostering the type of calcium-rich soil that is coveted by winemakers worldwide. The 2012 vintage is a blend of Caberent Sauvignon (68%), Petite Sirah (25%), Petit Verdot (5%) and Malbec (2%), all from meticulously farmed vineyard blocks culitivated for the Oyster Ridge program.
The 2013 vintage marks the first-ever varietal Cabernet Sauvignon made for our reserve White Label tier. To craft this wine, winemakers Mike Sinor and Stewart Cameron tasted through more than 230 barrels from blocks 49 and 50 at our estate Margarita Vineyard. From this larger lot, they selected 12 special barrels for extended aging and White Label treatment. The result is our most purest and impressive expression of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape to date, intending to showcase the Santa Margarita Ranch AVA as a standout region for Bordeaux varieties.
