The 2016 Sauvignon Blanc exhibits a vivid varietal character that is rooted in our estate Margarita Vineyard. Here, amid one of the Paso Robles region’s coolest growing environments, the Sauvignon Blanc grape achieves a fine balance of ripeness and raciness, with crisp acidity and appealing mineral accents.
The Pinot Noir vines in Block 34 occupy one of the coolest spots in the entire Paso Robles region. Here, a notch in the coastal peaks invites an ingress of brisk marine air from the nearby Pacific Ocean, fostering conditions that are favorable to Pinot Noir. Margarita Vineyard stands alone as the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles region, nestled into the rugged Santa Lucia Mountain range just 14 miles from the ocean in the new Santa Margarita Ranch AVA. The natural marine cooling results in an extended growing season that yields fruit with uncommon depth and structure. The peaks are also testaments to the tectonic forces that created Margarita Vineyard’s rare diversity of soils, ultimately fostering natural complexity in our wines.
The 2015 Blanco is a limited-edition wine crafted exclusively for our wine club members and tasting room visitors. This unconventional blend of Chardonnay and Muscat comes from our estate Margarita Vineyard, and specifically from vines planted to soils of granite and rocky alluvium. These stony soils, combined with cold fermentation and aging in stainless steel, yield a lusciously textured wine with a bright, fruit-forward character. Only 330 cases produced.
Chardonnay may not be a prominent grape variety in Paso Robles, but it nevertheless excels at our estate Margarita Vineyard. As the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles region, Margarita Vineyard is located 14 miles from the ocean and just over the hill from the Edna Valley, which is known as one of California’s premier Chardonnay appellations. The 2015 Chardonnay comes specifically from Block 26, one of Margarita Vineyard’s coolest spots. The result is something you might not expect—a deliciously authentic Chardonnay with Paso Robles on the label.
