Margarita Vineyard is farmed in accordance with progressive and sustainable viticultural practices designed to maximize fruit character while nurturing natural synergy with the surrounding environment. We wield multigenerational family winegrowing experience in Paso Robles, and we are passionate about preserving the unique qualities of both our grapes and our land.

Margarita Vineyard is a member of the Central Coast Vineyard Team, which promotes environmentally and economically sustainable vineyard practices on the Central California Coast.

Our sustainable practices include deficit irrigation, natural cover crops, wildlife corridors and rotational groundwater usage. We avoid tillage that could cause erosion to the detriment of nearby streams and wetlands. We manage vineyard pests naturally by promoting habits for native predators, a program that includes 34 bat boxes, 471 bluebird boxes, 29 owl boxes and 13 predatory bird perches. No oak trees were removed in the planting of Margarita Vineyard, and we exceeded requirements for setbacks from wetlands.

A visit to Margarita Vineyard not only reveals some of the most spectacular vineyard views on the Central Coast, but also glimpses of a wide variety of wildlife that call the Santa Margarita Ranch home, including deer, mountain lions, bobcats, wild boar and even bears. We believe that the wild beauty of our vineyard and ranch contributes to the soul of our wines.

Margarita Vineyard was meticulously planted block by block, with great care given to choices in varietal, clone, rootstock and trellising. Each plant was selected to optimize the corresponding soil type and microclimate of its particular vineyard block. We are blessed with extraordinary growing conditions at Margarita Vineyard, and we seek to maximize the benefits of these diverse conditions to create a superior taste profile.
